The athletic development programs at Design Yourself Strong are designed to develop the whole athlete while improving sport specific performance, increase strength, power and speed, decrease the risk of injury, and enhance recovery. Design Yourself Strong provide athletes with all the necessary tools to become better athletes and remain in the game longer. Programs are both athlete and sport specific, with a major focus on proper movement. If an athlete does not move correctly it can increase their chance of injury. Athletic development training is offered as athletic performance training in a semi- private format, youth fundamental programs, and one-on-one personal training.
Athletic Performance
Athletic performance training will provide athletes with an individualized training program and occur in a semi-private format. Training sessions will have a 4: 1 athlete to coach ratio to ensure quality and safe training. Session will be separated between middle and high school athletes. Athletic performance at DYS is perfect for any athlete in any part of their season (pre-season, in-season, off- season). Programs will be adjusted accordingly for overhead athletes and in-season athletes.
Athletic Performance Programs will Focus on:
Safety, Form, and Technique
STRENGTH: Full body functional training to increase strength specific to sport and position,
Explosive Power: Explosive lifts and movements to increase power and rate of force production specific to sport and position.
Speed: Linear acceleration, deceleration, change of direction, lateral speed, and running mechanics.
Agility: Drills and techniques to enhance foot work, foot speed and coordination for each athletes sport and position.
Conditioning: Aerobic and anaerobic cardiovascular development specific to each athletes sport and position.
Mobility/Flexibility: Various techniques of self-mobilization, self myofascial release, stretching, and activation to improve movement.
Injury Reduction: Recognize and fix issues that may contribute to injury such as muscle weakness and imbalances, instability, and balance deficiencies.
Nutrition: Education on what to eat before, during, and after competition to improve performance and enhance recovery.
The training programs will be developed with a system based approach using the most current training protocols and methods available. The program is developed by Samantha Robbins and staff who have over 10 years of experience working in the sports medicine and strength and conditioning fields.
*New DYS athletes need to complete an initial evaluation before participating in a training program.

This program is designed to focus on the fundamentals of proper movement in a fun and safe environment. This fundamental program will provide these youngsters with a foundation of movement skills necessary for successful and healthy athletic careers.
